This is, by far, the most amazing program I've ever used. If you have an iPAQ run, don't walk to get it. It's specifically for the iPAQ and really does work 5000 series (not like MiniStumbler which doesn't) and it does the job very well.

WiFiFoFum is a 802.11 scanner designed for the HP iPAQ 5550 and 5450 to use the internal wireless card, although should also work with other wireless cards on other PDAs running PocketPC 2003.

Funziona solo pocketPC 2003... :-(
It run only on pocketPC 2003

Works really good on my Qtek2020/XDA/iMate !!! I'm using a Qtek2020 with a Sandisk SD WifiCard. Signal is always very weak with this external wifi card, but this WiFiFoFum really picks a lot of signals out of the air! Another cool spec is that it's updating very fast too, so great for finding hotspots or calibrating / testing you own accesspoint. Please send this guy some PayPall money, because I am really happy when I read his ToDo list for the future. This is by far the best WiFi software for my pocketpc! (next best is Boingo by the way...)

WOW!..
I use this on a HP5450 with build in WLAN, and it works great! flaws from previous versions have disappeared: With earlier versions, I couldn't connect to no Access Points after using this software. With this version, no problems!
See my list of found accesspoints at http://tymusz.bigbusy.net/wifi

Wow, a great program! I just tried this out on my iPaq 2210 (w/CF wireless 802.11b card) and IT WORKS! Almost instantly it picked up two signals in my neighbourhood. The radar feature is also pretty cool.
What a fantastic utility! Kudos to the author for
his work and keeping this program updated for second edition 2003
Free program but I am going to contribute!
many thanks for your hard work!

Great program, but slows down afer some use.
Works on x50v, amazed at ability to track wifi spots with gps.
couldn't get it to work on my H5550, i click to run it and it does nothing...any ideas?
paulj, after you launch wififofum and turn on wifi on your pda, try going to the tools:device menu and set the device to ODIM/TIACXWLN1. This works on my Dell Axim X51v. That menu choice is not available until the wifi radio is turned on.
Kripkee, it doesn't do anything when i try and launch Wififofum, i click on the icon and it's as though i've not clicked on it
Paulj, sorry. I don't know the source of your problem. I wish I could have offered more help.
Works fine on my HP iPAQ hx4700 (Windows Mobile 2003SE) even in VGA resolution. Since this utility depends on .NET Compact Framework 2.0 (runtime) you have to install it prior to using WiFiFoFum 2. Since I do not have GPS add-on for my iPAQ and am not interested in wardriving, this tool, although very popular by many people, is nothing special for me.
seems to be a wonderful program, tried to install it on my i-mate KJAM and it won't work telling me i need another version on Compact Framework, tried to install it as well and didn't succeed..anyone can help out guiding me? tks
Crashes my iPAQ HX4700 as soon as i start the application. Needs a soft-reset to be able to use the iPAQ again.
I use an iPAQ6515 (in-built GPS receiver). WiFiFoFum 2.1.1 works OK and does the things claimed for it. However, it is very ill-behaved when exiting. The "Exit" does no such thing; killing the programme in "Settings" elicits an Error message; and using it with a Task Manager hangs the machine.
I have tested v2.1.1 with my Dell x51V running WM5 and it works flawlessly so far.
The program definately works with WM5.
I have a Dell Aximx51 and although it installs, and starts, it will not work. Too bad!

Paulj - Your problem is that you do not have the '.Net Compact Framework 2.0 Installer' installed. See here for FAQ's: http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/applications/wififofum/faq/
You can get the Installer from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c1b0a88-59e2-4eba-a70e-4cd851c5fcc4&displaylang=en
If ActiveSync doesn't install the .Net CF 2.0 - then do the following.
# Find this file on your Harddrive and copy it to your PPC: 'NETCFv2.ppc.armv4.cab'
Hint - mine was here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce400\armv4
# Now run this file on you PPC.
# Thats all - enjoy
regards
Dasher

The radar screen gives a nice GUI but you can't enable/disable connections to suit, essential when your nearest/strongest network connections are encryption/subscription enabled. Other similar programmes may look simpler but are more flexible in operation and are much smaller and less resource intensive.
This was a very nice program, but for some reason, after 2 days, no networks showed on the radar screen, just a blank screen......
I have not tested this extensively but can confirm it works on an Acer N50
Every time I access Options, I get an error on exit requiring me to quit the program. Had to go back to a previous version. Using an iPAQ h4350
Problem fixed with some very quick and precise advice from Mr. Malcolm Hall. Now working great!
i have a question, i do not have a pocket pc device, but i am using the Emulator and want to use this app. anyone know how to install it?

On my ASUS p535 (WM5) WiFiFofum doesn't work. When WiFi is enabled program quits after start.
On my TyTN II it's perfect! Great work man! AAA++++
Works GREAT on Axim x51v running WM6. Bonas is net software is in wm6 rom so no need to load it !
installed on my HP hw6915...worked a treat once i'd installed the '.Net Compact Framework 2.0 Installer'.
