Currency Converter is a program that makes it easy to convert an amount from one currency to another. Its strength is that it can search for exchange rates on the Internet if the Pocket PC is on line (either by "pass through" when in its cradle or when directly connected).
The program works very well. Naturally, it saves the last known exchange rate when the Pocket PC is no longer on line. From a design perspective, I found it rather impractical to have the information of interest be hidden by the virtual keyboard when one is entering data values.
My major complaint against the service that provides the exchange rates: perhaps somebody should tell them that in France, we no longer use the Franc but the Euro...
In short, one gets the feeling that this is a program designed by an American for converting his dollars into Canadian dollars. To the rest of the world it is of less interest. Note that the program requires the .NET Compact Framework.

If you want a good currency calculator, I have the files for one posted on my site. It is a typical calculator with currency conversions, but has a pretty yet professional interface. I believe it only works with WM 2003 devices. It is the calculator that HP put in its Ipaqs before the newest ROM update. You may want to download it if you just want your old calculator back.

I don't believe that Torgamm has actually taken a look at the new program. Currency Converter 2005 has been completely rewritten from the ground up for Windows Mobile 5.0. The image shown here is from the old version. The issue with the keyboard has been corrected in the new version. Also, to get Euro rates, simply enter "Euro" in the country field. Currency Converter 2005 is completely new and is clearly not the program reviewed here. It is available at http://www.s-church.net/WindowsMobileSoftware.aspx
