Pocket e-Sword - v3.0.1 Categorie: Religion
Screen Shot
Pocket e-Sword is a Christian Bible reader. The program lacks nothing from the best e-book readers: it is possible to consult a dictionary, search, compare, add bookmarks, etc.

Be aware, however, of the memory required: if, like many Americans, you are starting to take 5 or 6 Bibles with you, with dictionaries and commentaries or daily devotionals, you will quickly fill your memory card. Each document requires many megabytes.

Of course, as if often the case, it is the content that makes or breaks this type of program and in this case, fans will be pleased. The principal languages are available from the author's site and the number of them grows every day as the author negotiates the rights (not only in English, but there are a dozen languages).

English speaking fans of bible readers, will be pleased to know of the existence of this truly easy to use program. The main negative point is that the celebrated NIV is not available.

Note: the program uses .NET Compact Framework and SQLCE but everything is included in the packages that are adapted to each OS and will install them as required.

Update : version 2.6.0 provides WM5 compatibility. Stay with 2.5.2 if you have WM2003.

Very good program. At first I thought it was too good to be true, but it's legal and it works great.

A well made bible reader with no features missing. (at least none that I can imagine) Searching, highlight, text comparison,--its all here! The best free if not the best overall bible reader PERIOD. The one downfall is that the NIV version is not free for this reader, or any other bible reader for that matter. But in a nutshell, amazing.

8/10

Great Program. Its use of bookmarks, highlighting and ability to compare bible versions is outstanding. I use it instead of my regular KJV Bible.

Could someone tell me what screen resolution I need to run pocket e-sword effectively. The phone/PDAs seem to be 240x240 or 240x320 (landscape). Is the first of these (eg HP ipaq ..) too small? At a minimum obviously the text should fit on the screen. And how much difference does it make going to a larger PDA? Thanks

Pocket E-sword is the best Bible program I've come across for the Pocket PC. I've been using it since Windows Mobile 2002. The only real drawback to has been that only public domain Bibles are available, but this is changing lately as publishers are providing content for Pocket E-sword. I've tried eBible, Olive Tree, and Laridian and E-sword is by far the best and most versatile.

I love this program. I think a 7/10 really does this awesome program injustice. I too would give this program a 10/10. Simply superb!

I have used this suite of programs for over 3 1/2 years and it is truly awesome. I hope that they get the support they deserve [Financial & Spiritual] because they have done and are continuing to do an exemplary job. I would give this a score of 10 out of 10!

I have benn using this program for years on both my PocketPC (currently iPAQ hx4705) and desktop PC. It is incredible. The developer keeps the software very current and there are too many add-ons to list. I highly recommend this gem. 10/10
