Pocket Humanity is a game strongly inspired by Civilization. Recently made available in an alpha version, the program is in a playable state but most of the features that made Civilization great remain to be developed (in fact, only discovery, armies and terrain are available).
The website regularly updates with new versions (at least a version per week) and a forum exists for recording your comments and impressions.
I have already spent many hours with this game, and have had 3 or 4 crashes (but the site warns you about them...). On the other hand, playability is very good considering the development status (it looks a lot like Civilization II). Hard to tell at the moment; we hope it lives up to expectations and stays freeware.
Note: you'll have to install .NET Compact Framework SP2 if your Pocket PC is a bit older.

Still in the baby stages of developement, this game show great promise. Graphics packs can be downloaded to improve the overall look of the game and the author has high hopes for it in the future.
Motivated developer + high interest = one great game!
This one had tremendous potential and has already come a long way in past months. Keep up the great work!
6/10 (game is not complete and there are a few bugs, otherwise 7/10+)

For some reason, this game messed up everything on my Pocket PC. All the programs that requires .NET Framework stopped working and my pocket pc just kept freezing up.

I'd give it 9/10 for a very very good effort at succeeding where others gave up. The game is playable, and it kept me good company on a few trips over the summer. I've had no crashes whatsoever with the later versions (post July 2005), on a Compaq Ipaq 3850, WM2003. The author recently released it as open source to encourage others to help in the development. Any willing civ coders out there?
