GSPocketMagic++ is a drop-down menu similar to a freeware program by Tillanosoft called Program Menu which I currently use. There are a few noticable things different between the two applications. The Negative: GSPocketMagic (GSPM) showed only 6 of my 12 folders under my \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, where Program Menu (PM) shows them all. GSPM also does not show subfolders within my folders, where PM does properly show all of my subfolders. The Positive: GSPM lets me see the Control Panel apps under Settings. GSPM also provides a few built-in added features, like Cut/Copy/Paste, Reboot, and Suspend. GSPM also seems to build its application menu a bit quicker than PM, but once PM has its menu structure built, it runs more smoothly than GSPM.
At present, I would give GSPM a 7/10 due to the negative issues listed above. Once they are fixed, I believe it would be an 8/10.

This is excellent. Installed it on my Tosh e805 with WM2003se and it has been working very well and looks wonderful.
Wish list - the program menu gets updated live, or an option to refresh as the start menu directories and links are changed. Right now it only updates when you restart the program.

The tool is very usefull and I will keep it running as my standard start menu.
The only problem encountered is that is will not "close" the phone function on my IPAQ 6340 (GSM/GPRS), only "close all" will do the job.

I have been using GSPocketMagic for about 3 weeks now and agree with RD100, the inability to have subfolders is a big drawback. RD100 didn't mention, however, that GSPocketMagic also allows you to change your Start Menu icon with a bitmap you designed. Very nice, especially for nothing :)

Correction on my earlier info the phone function will also not stop by "close all" it remains in the open tasks, and only a soft reset will stop the phone function. I also discovered a second bug: when I specify that “AtiveSync” is excluded from closing it will close it anyway when the “lose all” function is selected.
I will go back PocketNav for now.

Hi
I have problems installing it, i don't get it. Manuals are in Chinese or something? Could plz someone give me a hand?
Thanks a lot

Very average, very inferiour to MagicButtons.

Note: This product is being updated very frequently. Several versions have been released since my last comment a month or so ago. The current version adds new icons for basic functions and adds the ability to skin those icons. If they keep it up, this is going to be one hot start menu app.

Wow what a nice program, though it dose not work very well with wm2003se (Phone vresion)
also when selecting use today screen, scrolling through the start menu, the menu become unreadable
|
There is one inconvenience in program menu: one-line-per click scroll. So if you have a lot of items in "Program", you must click a lot to go to the end of list (and so I just go to standart menu).
Probably it would be better if program scrolls one screen per click.

Same like Adrikel, Cannot close the phone on my O2 XDA IIs. Only way to do is soft reset.

GSPocketMagic++ has been a suitable and better replacement for WisBar Advance2 due to GSPocketMagic++'s small system footprint, compatibility with (many, many) programs, speed, closing "X" that closes applications, semi-cascading menus, cascading access to the Setting icons, customizability, etc. (GSPocketMagic++ v1.32.18 now allows much more than 6 folders). I give GSPocketMagic++ 8.5/10, due to its limited cascading menues as well as the limitation of program switching.

I'm having problems with it, how do I stop it, I can´t do anything without getting a "that program it's in use"
|
I found it really excellent on my MDA Compact...
Jirajara, if you want to exit, clik on the START MENU icon, then selection OPTIONS and then EXIT...
and if you've installed a foreign language by mistake (as I did) OPTION is the sixth item from top, and CLOSE is the last one under it (it also has a red x button next to it.) Close this program this way and then uninstall it. It should work... It worked for me when I first installed German version by mistake... Good luck

UK-taniyama: Can you please add a SCREEN LOCK button to main menue... so that programs like media player's can run in background and without being disturbed by key pressing insdie you pockets... Please!!!!

Great! Finally added value without added icons on today. Limited view in programs (i.e. unreadable items) is solved by creating folders and organising shortcuts in them. Just 1 setting is unreadable. Excellent addition to my Imate Jam. 9/10.

Can someone tell me how to install this software? I am new to PDA.
|
Still very enthousiastic, had reason to uninstall and re-install 3 times but it's still the best. Clicking just next to new logo shows original start menu, so you've got a choice. One question: Why does GSPocketmagic show all settings EXCEPT backlight?
|
Works great on a Dell Axim X51v (Windows Mobile 5). A must have!
|
Very good program. Use it along with MagicButton (provides task bar), to give a very usable system with a low memory footprint.
|
Will this work with a device based on an OMAP cpu? If not, is there an OMAP version of the program?
|
Excellent soft!!! I'm using it for 2 years already - just great - no slow down or hang up! Highly recommended!!!!! hp 2210
Rating - 9,5/10
TO Sergionenl (07-12-2005): by me it shows everything including Backlight
cons: for menu to be updated - need to restart program.
|
No, you needn't restart GSPocketMagic to refresh the menu. Just open the Options/Settings menu and close it again; your menu will be updated.
Actually, Tillanosoft's ProgramMenu doesn't update automatically, either. You have to use its Refresh option every time you add or delete a program.
Be careful with GSPMagic's "close all" command. It takes that request a bit too literally. On my Axim x51v it wipes out the two soft buttons below the Today screen in the bargain, making a soft reset necessary. <lol>
|
This is great!!! Just wish it could replace the Start menu completely.
|
I used to love this program but now my new Treo 800W has a screen resolution of 320 x 320 vs. my old 240 x 240. Any version of GPSPocket Magic that I try will not render properly on the screen. The VGA mode is too small with the text looking jagged and the regular mode is way too large, running off my screen. Any ideas???
