Monts-Jura is designed for skiers practising their skills on the snowy peaks of the Jura field of the same name.
Basically, it is a scanned map of the area with navigation facilities (via Pad or stylus). The ground plan at the bottom-right lets you move around the area.
Also, all the slopes are classified via sub-areas via popup menus: a click on the name of the slops immediately positions the map over it and a popup gives relevant information (slope letter, alitude difference, ...) Ibid for the ride back up.
Apparently, it is possible to set a speed. I image that this lets you get an approximation of the time taken to get down a slope... but I couldn't find anything of the sort. A bug maybe?
Programmed in .NET, .Net Compact Framework must be installed for users of Pocket PC 2002.
This also explains the relative slowness when moving around the map.
Warning: waterproofing for your Pocket PC is not supplied! ;) So, even if the idea is original and the execution well done, I still question its usefulness in the field. More useful for planning the day before or to remember what you did, while sitting next to a warm fire at the end of the day.
