This is just fantastic. Tcl is a pretty straight-forward scripting language (with a GUI toolkit). Tcl does have a slightly different paradigm from more commonly used languages (such as a javascript, vb or php), and I'm a newbie to it myself. Nevertheless, it is fairly easy to pick up, and there are some helpful resources (http://wiki.tcl.tk) to learn the language. The free eTcl application provided by Evolane runs on many platforms (Windows, OS X, Linux, and Windows Mobile). So it is possible to use another environment to develop your application then transfer it to the phone/PDA (although you could in fact develop it on the phone/PDA itself). The availability of eTcl for Windows Mobile has opened up new possibilities for me in terms of building applications for my phone.

Yes, tcl/tk is a strong and powerful language.
If you need a text editor with highlighting, you can use my FicEdit program (itself writen in tcl/tk)!
