RViewer is an application for you to view the icons found in EXE/DLL/CPL files.
This update (version 0.2) consists of a number of minor updates and fixes, as well as enhancements and new features. Firstly, the File Open dialog is now able to remember the last file extension you have used. I've also added a slider bar for faster or more intuitive scanning, but I'm not sure if it's really useful. I've also removed some buttons and moved them over to the menubar, which will show up as softkey menus in Windows Mobile 5.0 and above. Lastly, I've also implemented the export function which will allow you to save the current icon(s) to BMP file. I will also look into adding support for other image formats in future.

Good Icon-Viewer. Only downside I can not get to open system and/or hidden files, which is nescessary when looking for icons in resources.dll, shell32.dll, etc... for creating shortcuts.
|
I think you were looking for the wrong files. "resources.dll" and "shell32.dll" do not exist in the "\Windows\" folder on the Pocket PC. One of the main resource files used in the Pocket PC is "ceshell.dll" instead. I've checked and confirmed that the FIle Open dialog using gsGetFile is able to view hidden files as well.

@vicott
Hi, thanks for the answer.
I have installed gsGetFile running on my device and when using the gsFinder (File-Explorer) I can see a "resources.dll" (ReadOnly, Hidden) and a "shell32.exe" (not dll-sorry! ReadOnly, Hidden, ROM) in the "\Windows\" folder but when tapping on Browse in RViewer they won't show up. Ii is altought possible to insert the filename manually and get the icon-search done. I don't even know if there are any useful icon in there, I was just wondering that these files won't show up... "ceshell.dll" is working-that's true...
(using iPAQ hx2490, WM5)

Oops...I just checked my codes and I had set the flags of the File Open dialog to hide read-only files. I'll fix it in the next update, but it won't be so soon since I'm also working on getting the export function working well.

I made a mistake in my previous observation. There was no problem with the codes. I was able to load "shell32.exe" on my HP iPAQ h1940 (WM2003) but the same file doesn't show up on my E_TEN M600 (WM5). So, I think there is a limitation with the File Open dialog in WM5 and I really have no control over that.

Very useful tool! Thanks!
