PocketPCFreeware : WM5torage 1.9

WM5torage is a utility to export the flash memory card inside Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PCs as a usual USB Mass Storage device effectively turning your Pocket PC into flash reader and USB sticks. ActiveSync is not required and will be disconnected if it is installed.

When activated, the memory card will not be accessible from the device but from the connected PC only. That's because all access to the flash card will be routed through the USB connection. When you explore your computer, you can see a "Removable Disk" just like any card reader. Note that it is rather slow though.

A very useful program if you need to copy a file from a storage card to a PC or if you need to copy a file (a CAB file for instance) from your desktop computer.

I was looking a long time for such an app but why is ActiveSync not able to do this!? I'd like not to pay for such a thing. This should be standard. And should also work for Windows Mobile 2003 devices!

Very useful app. Say goodbye to your cool disk and other USB storage media. Just carry your PDA with yourself (with a cable, of course!). The recent versions have been working bug-free to me while early versions were a total mess. Anyway, I'd recommend this app to anybody to have it on his/her PDA, with a 1 or 2 GB card storage. In that case, you can even copy the movie you liked from your friend's computer on your PDA !!!

Wish the developer read about this feedback. To fully disable read & write to the device but keep charging battery from usb would be helpful to stealing info from intruder secretly!

@mukka Yes and no; Vista does make it available as a removable drive in My Computer, but it uses Mobile Device Center to do this (it makes it look like a flash drive). With wm5torage, it makes the PPC acyually behave as a USB drive, making it useable with any USB-enabled computer, such as OSX and Linux.
