A great port of Notepad for our Pocket PCs. Usually I'm not at all a fan of programs written in Visual Basic, but this time it's different. Of course you will have to install the Visual Basic runtimes, but once this is done, PocketPad adds only 18kB.
If you love easy-to-use ASCII editors, and Pocket Word is definitely too big for your needs, try PocketPad. It has all the functions Notepad provides, too: search, replace, upper/lowercase conversion.

This is an old .exe, that contains within it the .cab files. The problem is, most users will probably have difficulty getting that exe to work so that it even lets you get to the .cabs. Then, the .cabs themselves are huge for a notepad prog. It'll make you install VB runtimes with the notepad program, almost 1 meg, seriously. Now, if you already needed these (I assume) old VB runtimes, then this is not a bad notepad prog for you.
