One of my all-time favorite freewares (and it's just been updated! -- gotta get that). This is a great task switcher, similar to WizBar in functionality, but I like the way this one works better. Icons of running apps are shown on the titlebar (as shown in picture above). Tap-and-hold to close, or to flag as "don't close". Changes default behavior of close button to actually close the window (probably the #1 most produced utility for PocketPC). Also hooks to their commercial dictionary. Man, I gotta go install the update! Whoo-hoo!

This is an excellent application for closing tasks (properly) and task switching, etc especially considering some of the other choices have decided to go commercial.
This tool is still free and works with WM2003 second edition and in VGA. My Toshiba e805 has worked very nicely with it.

wow! Y'all gotta have this! especially if yer runnin' windows mobile 2002. It duz exactly wut it says it'll do. And, it has a very small footprint.

Yes, simply Excellent, forget about GSPocketMagic! Extremely well thought and simple, and uses fine VGA icons.

I tried this on my new iPAQ rx3715 (running Windows Mobile 2003 SE) but took it off after finding it was not running as anticipated. It did display open program icons across the top which was somewhat handy, but once installed, whatever Program Window I was last on was the one that stayed on (the Program Window wouldn't close at all). There was no turning off Pocket Magic and it was a bit tough to uninstall (I finally had to do a soft reset).
This really does sound like a nifty tool, but seems to not have caught up with current PPC versions. My Rating: 0

I had used it for some months long ago and it works fine on my O2 XDAII. The function of the close button can be configured between Minimize(Windows Default) or Close Program in the settings. It is really a nice freeware. But now, I'm using another all in one freeware task manager. I'll not mentioned that one in here in order to appreciate the efforts of MagicButton's author. But, I already wrote very good comments in that one also since I start using that last 2 months.
I think if the freeware users respect/encourage the authors in that way(not to mention another better/worst one, but to mention the bugs/requirements if any in order to help them), we can hope so much better freewares in the future.

I just installed this "Magical" program :)
I think Microsoft should include this as default. It makes
working with the device soooo much simpler. Btw i have a Qtek S100 incase any Qtek owners have a doubt about compatibility.

Nice work! tried it on my XDAIIi. I use it inconjunction with vbar to get the best of both worlds. Magic button has an icon for the today screen, you can hide it once in order to avoid issues with the notifications. It allows user to minimise Vs shut down the applications which vBar does not have.

Magic Button v1.8 works seamlessly with GSPocketMagic++ 1.32.18. The combination has become a real WisBar Advance 2 (payware edition) killer. In order to get Magic Button to show up automatically with GSPocketMagic++ on start up, check the "Show Task Bar on Start" in the Magic Button settings. I give Magic Button working in conjunction with GSPocketMagic++ a 9.5/10.

I like the plugin; however it has sometimes problems with Win 5. It stopes itself suddenly.
Second, even i have set up the app. to start (it is in start up menu) it won't. After reset I have to start the app itself each time

Best task manager I have ever used. I have tried lot of them, but this is exactly a TASK MANAGER, with no CPU or MEMORY load at all. Just what I need. Thanks to the author for it. It works perfect on my Dell X30 with WM2003SE, which I won't upgrade till WM5 have 100% support for all my apps.

Hands down the BEST Task Manager out there. Running under WM 5 this works great great great....by the way did I say this was GREAT! Have no problems with hanging as someone said, perhaps checking your other apps. This is THE task manager to have, dump all the others.

AMAZING! I've been using vBar for the longest time and just stumbled across this beauty. Feature rich and amazing. Easy to configure, works great with my PPC-6700 smartphone. I can't recommend it enough. USE THIS!

Nice but does not work on WM5. Keeps closing itself frequently so it's useless. I use now gtApps, which is similar to MB, and I love it.

G500_ml (12-03-2006) made inprecise note. Functionality in any case could be restored by long tap, so the program doesn't close itself - there is simply minor bug in displaying. I couldn't say that program is useless - I use it for 4 months.

This is probably the most useful PPC tool out there. I have used it for several years now, and it keeps getting better with every update the author releases. I have used it on PPC2002, 2003, and today I installed it on my o2 XDA Flame running WM2005. Works great, mate!

I still have a problem with colour blending - running WM6.1 on HTC Touch Diamond - it's VGA res, so I don't know if that's got anything to do with it
