Useful but not space efficient on Today's screen.

Excellent add-on soft, random display bug but doesn't affect performance. I'm keeping it.
On his website he still has WINCE 2000 version, I works with SH3 and such.
Anyone else notice incompatability issues when used with PPC 2003 SE? I get a problem where BatMemTime will hang my PPC, or sometimes, the info just doesnt show correctly (usually after I change a setting), and I need to softreset it.
btw.. when it works, I love it. it tells me the info I like to know on the status of my battery.
Exactly like doctorbonez says... Sometimes the info just disappears and a reset is needed (on PPC2003 SE), but otherwise it's perfect! :-)
I've had it for a few weeks now and I love it. I've had other battery monitors on my today screen and even had a couple at the same time. This one updates the fastest and by far is the most customizable. The 9 score is right on target!
I've used it for quite a while. I always appreciated the estimated time remaining on current charge, although for some reason it's not taking the battery on my expansion sleeve into account; just my main battery. Still, it's very useful information about memory and battery.
I don't see what all the fuss is about..? I've had this app installed for about 5 or 6 hours, (on Windows Mobile 2003SE), and already I've had to soft reset my Axim X50v at least half a dozen times because the app keeps freezing. A strange thing... I downloaded the '2003' version of the program, but the info within the app says it's for 2002..?
Needs more development, (at least for 2003SE users), I'm removing it as I type...
Hey fLaMePr0oF, as I wrote above, I have the same problem. So i tought today go look for a new version. And really since yesterday there is a version 4 for PPC2K3 and WM5 on the homepage! :-) Gotta test it this afternoon...
There are now versions available for both WM2003SE (second edition) and Windows Mobile 5.0. They can be found at the same website as the older versions, www.geocities.com/tomgigear77.
I'm sorry it took so long to get a proper WM2003SE version out. I had to update my tools to do it properly.
Thanks Tom!! Happy to have this tool :-)
Great app. Tom, I have been using it for ages on my old Toshiba e310, now on my new e740, one of the best free apps out there, and on my must have list. Is there a possibility of a cab file, instead of the windows installer?
By the way, it seems that my back-up battery indicator never shows more than %25. This could well be my device though. Other bat. apps. show a full back-up battery charge, but on the two occasions I removed my battery, I lost everything, and there was no way I could have done it any faster.( I back up so no problem, but one of these days I may start from scratch, it's been slowing down so I might want to get rid of all those useless dll's that I cant delete manually. Any ideas on how to delete files no longer needed that remain stubbornly?)

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the update for wm2003se unfortnately device still freezing up. Behavior that is duplicating this is selecting options from the today plugin and then trying to exit them. Have to soft reset. Hope this helps.
I wanted to add that the version I am testing is from the geocities site 4.0 and I am using it within Wisbar Advance Desktop. I have tested it outsite of Wisbar Advance Desktop and it is not freezing. Not sure if this issue can be resolved so that we can use it with WAD. Thanks again. Hezahonker

Thanks Kilian for the tip and Tom for the new version!!! For some reason after install Windows Mobile 2003SE still gives that message saying that the program might not work because it's for a different version - it doesn't recognise it as a true WM2003SE app, however, it seems to be stable now and I look forward to testing the WM5 version soon (as Dell are warramty replacing my Axim X50v with an X51v as I kicked up a fuss when the WM5 upgrade for the X50v left my PDA terribly unstable!!!)
Nope, sorry, still freezes - I just re-arranged my Today items and the battery bar went blank and required a soft reset to work, once again it is removed.
My requirement is for a battery monitor which displays bettery level unobtrusively and can also give an estimated life remaining time... So far the only one I can find that does this and this alone is BatMon2k2.
BatMon2k2 only got a 5/10 rating, but it works well and does what is required - this app gets a 9/10 and is unusable because you have to soft reset your PDA every few minutes. In my oppinion this app should be removed (at least the WM2003 revsion) until it works!
Sorry about your problems and soft resets required fLaMePrOoF. I'm not sure what is happening. There are people using the app on WM2003SE devices who say it works fine.
I am using it on an X51v and that is working fine for me. I'm looking into what is happening on some WM2003SE devices. I hope to have the problems fixed soon.

Tom: Have had 3.3.7 running on my Tosh e800 for over two and a half years. Unfortunately 4.1 is really buggy on wm2003 (not se) in VGA. The app would freeze the system; or make it run *extremely* slow. (Like 10 minutes to draw one drop down menu.) The app also erased its settings each time the today screen came back to the top, i.e. all the check marks on the options page would clear themselves and the plug-in seemed to disappear. Have gone back to 3.3.7 and everything is ok again.
Look forward to being able to use the new version sometime soon.
Thanks for your work.

Just tried this program on my Qtek 9100 WM5. It ran well at first but crashed my PPC after a while. The easiest way to crash it is to access the Batmemtime options menu through the Today screen plugin. When you exit, it crashes... Its really too bad because its such a great program when it runs properly...
Sorry about the new problems rawb and kamikun.
I am using this on a WM5 device (axim X51v) and I don't get the crash when accessing the options menu through the today screen. I have heard about this issue from another person though. They are willing to do some testing for me, so I'll figure out how to resolve this soon hopefully.
I don't know why the 2003 non-SE version is now having trouble. I'll take a look at that too. The new compiler I'm using to do WM5 (.NET2005) is supposed to also compile properly working versions for 2003SE and non-SE. I hope thats really true, because I don't have the old compiler installed anymore and I really don't want to try to set up both.
I hope to have these issues resolved soon.

I have a Dell X5 400Mhz with the 2003 upgrade installed. I have been using v3.3.7 with no problems and just tried upgrading to v4.1 today. What I get is an blank area on the Today screen where the batmemtime should be displayed but no info. If I load a program and exit back to the Today screen I now "see through" the Today screen in that area. I found and tried downloading v4.0 and that seems to work fine.
Same problem as above. I am on 2003 and it shows a wierd blank/see through area. I cant seem to find version 4.0 to download though.
I ran it on my WM2003 Toshiba e750.
On first install it was invisible and hung my device and i was like "wtf?" but then i discovered that was as by default none of the bars were on. After doing this and soft resetting again i thaught it was fixed, wrong!
Not happy with this piece of software at all....
by the way i have tried the NET2005 compiler. It lies, the old 2k3 one is so much more stable
Why does it tell me that the device has been on for lets say 1 day and 20 hours when I just restarted it? I am speaking of the one when you tap on the "<time here> since 9:04am" and it tells you how long has it been on since a hard reset and above it it says "device has been on for 18 hours total since 11:06am" even though I just restarted the device.
Is it possible to make the program compatible with 240x240 screens like the Palm Treo's have? The options menu gets cut off for me at "show storage card info" and I cannot get to gauges for example.
I must say I have been using this plug in for years now, just have run into a little problem. I now have a Treo 700wx and it has the 240x240 res screen. the plugin works great on the screen but I am unable to see all of the setting to change things because of the sreen res. is there anything that can be done about this? I would even beta test if need be. Thanks Tom your App is just the best. glad to see you have updated this program.
I just installed this and I love it so far. Previously I had been using Batti, but it has a bug on my device (Cingular 8125) that makes it unusable. I did run into one problem with installation. Maybe this is a known obvious thing with WM (I'm relatively new to this stuff), but I was given an option to install on my storage card. When I did this, the installation completed, but the application didn't appear on my Today screen and wasn't available as an option for me to add it. After uninstalling and reinstalling on my internal storage, it started working great.
Installing this program to a storage card and having it work correctly is not possible due to the delay of the storage card reading on device bootup. Almost all today plugins are like this (at least, that I know of).
This program sucks. It crashed my mobile windows 5 after 2 seconds.
Too simple. There are better stuff out there nowadays.
