In the WIS Bar family, I choose the ... grandson!
Since the source code of the original WIS Bar has been released, multiple programmers took it and made their own versions of this essential utility. Some stripped it down to let only the most important functions (vBar), and on the other side we have two very functional, and very popular versions (PelMar and IcBar).
Now WisBar Advanced, which is - in a way - the successor of PelMar, because it's the author of the PelMar version who also took part in the development of this one. So have a look at the review of WIS Bar - PelMar, because it's pretty much the same, except that the notifications are handled in a better way, something we really appreciate! Some bugs are still there, but about to be fixed, and the best thing is that the skinners community is very active - so get your pretty screens NOW!
Update 1: the big news with the latest version is that you can have a cascading Start menu.
Update 2: Version 2.0 is available as shareware (USD 9.95); it is compatible with WM2003 SE, as opposed to version 1.3.2.2

Regarding the translated summary of Pocket PC 2002 compatability: WisBar Advance works great for me.
I actually prefer IcBar for my personal preference although WisBar Advance has an skin system that is easier to use.

I've installed WisBar on my Pocket Pc and it works like a charm.
I would truely recommend it to other users

Coolest PPC stuff ever .

Task manager,Date/Clock,Battery,Memory,Cascading Start Menu,Skin,Customizable Menu Command(Tap,Hold),........
What an unbeleiveable all in one program for my XDAII! If you are looking for freeware, don't waste your time testing others. Thanks a LOT to all the developers of the WisBar Family.

WisBar Advance is fantastic! I've been using v1.3.2.2 on my Toshiba E335/PPC2002, and it works great. The only feature I chose not to use is the new WisBar cascading start menu. Instead I use Tillanosoft's freeware Program Menu, which is also a cascading menu. I find Program Menu easier to view because it uses black text against a white background. It also has the ability to display the contents of folders and subfolders if you simply paste a shortcut to the folder in Start Menu\Programs. I set up WisBar to execute Program Menu when the Start Menu button is pressed. But I definitely like WisBar Advance for all of it's other features, and I would give it a 9/10.

This software does not work in the landscape mode of my pocket pc:(
|
Though it is mentioned in the web site that it was not working WM2003SE, I still made a trial. And it true that not only doesn't support landscape and it's not working with Xda II mini.

why use programmenu when its just as easy to make a blank white or colorful background for the skin? seems like alot of extra space for no reason to me
