These Power Toys regroup in a single package a number (17 to be exact) of little utilities that Philippe Majerus has developed over the years. Some are old and well known, others are more recent. It goes with saying that the name is not chosen at random: Power Toys follows the example of the utilities of the same name by Microsoft, these are quite useful utilities, but are intended for Power Users who want to squeeze every last drop from their machine. This doesn't mean that they are difficult to use, quite the opposite. You will find that there are utilities already described on our database such as Reset, Suspend, Today and Databases, but also a Notepad that is particularly respectful of ANSI and Unicode, shortcuts to the 'My Documents' files, a command line Run, etc, etc... I'll also mention Autoplay which allows the execution of an application from insertion or activation of a material, and a screensaver for the tasks that take a long time (downloads, listening to music etc...). Finally, the program is also shipped with 3 input methods which are added to the sidebar of your keyboard: a table of characters identical to those in Windows, a super paper weight and a system so as to not lose part of the screen when using an external keyboard. There are many good things here which you can take your time to discover completely. At the beginning, the fact that you have to install them all annoyed me a bit (I do not like invasive applications), but Phillipe has a technical reasion to want it like that: the setup program is common to all the utilities and this reduces the memory space used. And of course, there is nothing stopping the bolder user from removing unused applications by deleting some files. That's not too difficult.
