Vinyl is an excellent little program that allows you to manage all the music on your PC. A sort of remote control.
It comprises a server which needs to be installed on the PC and a client on the Pocket PC (communication is via TCP/IP). All this is easy to set up since you only need to give the server an IP address and the directory where it can find the music files. You also must specify the program (Windows Media Player or Winamp) to read the files.
You can create your playlists on your Pocket Pc and play them on the audio system of your PC, whatever the format (MP3, of course, but also MP3Pro, Monkey Audio, WMA and OGG Vorbis). Practically anything is possible and a single Pocket PC can manage many PCs at the same time if by change, you happen to have music all over your enormous WiFi network... Or inversely two Pockete PCs can interact at the same time with the same playlist.
Note: this was a commercial program, but this is no longer the case. Thanks to Sebafil.
