Finally we see a port of this great file compression tool to the Pocket PC: WinRAR. I won't talk about the advantages of RAR against the ZIP compression, that's not the goal of this site.
If you are used to using RAR on your desktop computer, you have to get it on your PDA too. Nothing special about the usage, all the basic functions are available. I also like the file explorer of WinRAR, which is not, like the WinZip one, limited to the compressed files themselves, but can serve as your standard file explorer (with the advantage of browsing through RAR files as well). The only downpoint is that it is not possible to sort the files by their extension before selecting them.
And the best thing: if you don't have the Resco File Explorer (which manages ZIP files): PocketRAR can also be associated with ZIP files, just like it's bigger brother on Win32.
But all in all, a great freeware which is definitely a must-have, even though the speed when working with compressed files is not really convenient.

Official software from RARLabs :D Works exactly as it should to compress all my files :) A big step up from ZIP compression that I was restricted to before.

Nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to be. Gets the job done well and quickly, compressing files better than the .zip standard. Good work.

PocketRAR v3.50 - works fine on my HP iPAQ hx4700 (Microsoft Windows 2003SE). This tool deals with RAR and ZIP archives, can make solid archive, has 6 levels of compression, easy way to associate RAR/ZIP files with this tool, nice menu shortcuts for most often used functionalities; compress/extract/delete, has archive password protection. Recommended tool for everyone.

Great Soft, I use "rar" files all time, and with this utility I use rar files in my pda too!

Good work and a "must have" for Pocket PC users. I'll give also 8/10 points for the following reasons:
- can handle .rar and .zip (I only using ZIP)
- fast
- it's free
Only drawback: Can't edit files in zip archive like WinZip.

Official, free, and simple to use. Works in conjunction with my Total Commander browser as well. An absolute necessity today. PocketRar's internal browser allows file viewing internal to the rar/zip file just like its desktop counterpart.
