If you liked nPOP, you will love nPOPw! Please read the review of nPOP, because the basic functions are the same.
Now nPOPw is made of the same source code, but with some important new features, for which everybody has been waiting for for a long time:
- most important new feature: it uses the contacts from Pocket Outlook, whereas nPOP had used its own contact list.
- you can launch PIE to read your HTML mails
- some smaller things, like the display of the recipients and the priority
- a better user interface, especially when saving the options.
And don't forget that there's a Win32 version, too, which uses the same files as the PPC version. Very useful to take your mails onto a memory card and read them on your PC.

Great email program. I had trouble finding the interface buttons as well because the screen was too large. i did, however download the program from a different site. Perhaps pocketpcfreeware.com will update their links to this site. It is in English too:

Great Program!

Downloaded this from link provided by cscotty. Works like a charm on my IPAQ hx2410. Excellent peice of software!!! Much better than the built-in Messaging. Would be nice if it could sync with Outlook.

Sorry, I do not read the english comments :s and thanks to Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen (a must read article), I updated the link today.

In nPOPw, I am unable to connect to GMAIL using WiFi. When I try to connect, it just "clocks" for around a minute, and then I get a "Server Disconnected" message.
The original nPOP does lets me connect to GMAIL using WiFi. The connection happens instantly. I have both nPOP and nPOPw set up identically in every way. Every setting is identical.
Has anyone else had this same issue using nPOPw?
|
To RD100: I downloaded npop and could not get connected to gmail, which is the sole reason for me to have this program. I may have got a setting wrong though. I would greatly appreciate knowing the correct settings to connect to gmail, if you wouldn't mind.

sinbadthesinner - I have my GMAIL settings under npop comments. Go to this link:

Make sure you install nPOP, and not nPOPw.

nPOPw is old software ... but the tradition continues in nPOPuk:

I don't know what the problem was with nPOPw and SSL, but several users are successfully connecting to gmail with nPOPuk.

I am using nPOP 1.0.9 with GMAIL and the settings as mentioned by RD100 (see the nPOP page). It worked and continues to work.
I tried setting up nPOPuk for use with GMAIL but I had problems. Will try again later, as I want the contacts address book.

okay tried nPOPw with my GMAIL settings and had immediate problems. Switch over to nPOPuk 2.08 and it seems to work. But make sure you first get the original nPOP 1.0.9 working with GMAIL (per RD100 comments on the nPOP page).
