Still in the Beta phase, this super Today screen plug-in can display your owner info and your picture, the current weather conditions and multi-city forecast (cities in France and elsewhere), news from various sites, the time in different cities, your calendar (appointments, tasks, etc...), the battery level, the memory level, and even a launcher.
What is the most interesting about this ultimate plug-in is that with one click you can start up all the elements and view them all on one screen!
The configuration is complex and I would not recommend beginners to jump right into it without reading more about it. It would be better to start with completed configuration files and modify them little by little.

I can't get this to work... I select it in the "today" menu and tap "OK" and it resets my Dell Axim X5. When it comes back on, the plugin doesn't show up on the today screen. Any ideas?
|
the coder built in a failsafe that allows for short-time use of the plugin. it's wonderful software, but the programmer has not updated it in a very long time, and all available betas have expired. one method to make it work is to roll back your calendar/clock to be december of 2003, but that is not a viable workaround.
|
I found that solution on a website and it worked - the only problem is that you have to do that after every reset. It is a nice program, though.
|
You were right about the complex configuration! Where can I get hold of completed configuration files to modify myself?

On your PPC use a file explorer that will allow you to see extensions and hidden files to find the file “todayplus.dll” in \Program Files\TodayPlus and copy it to your PC. On your PPC turn off the TodayPlus plugin (uncheck in the Settings/Today screen), soft reset, and move “todayplus.dll” from \Program Files\TodayPlus to \My Documents. On your PC use a hexeditor to open the “todayplus.dll” and search for “7D 1E A0 E3 03 08 A0 E1”; replace “7D” with “8D”; save the edited “todayplus .dll” and copy it back to \Program Files\TodayPlus on your PPC. Delete” todayplus.dll” from \My Documents and reset your PPC. On your PPC turn on the TodayPlus plugin (check in the Settings/Today screen) and soft reset.
|
The above fix is permanent. Save the new todayplus.dll in a safe place so that if you have to reinstall (e.g., after a hard reset) all you need do is install, disable, and replace as per above. You might want to save the instructions just in case. Free hexeditors are abundantly available. Do a web search for one. It's a great program and the effort is worth it. When you're ready, surf over to http://www.jhollin1138.com for a goldmine of help. There is a great debate as to whether the fix should be shared--somewhat hypocritical in my estimation, since those who were lucky enough to get it before it disappeared are using it.

GSFinder+ 1.02 (available on this site) is a very good file explorer that allows you to view extensions and hidden files, and Hex-editor XVI32 (available at http://www.chmaas.handshake.de) is a very serviceable hexeditor that will allow you to change and save the todayplus.dll file.
|
Just a reminder that a working TodayPlus is available to all who follow the instructions above.
|
Okay, I guess I'm just stupid, but I can't get this configured to show my calendar, or any thing else. Any help out there?
|
You must replace the TodayPlus.dll file as per the instructions in the first three phuntum posts above or the program will show nothing.
|
Wow! I must say, this stuf with Hex-editors is pretty new for me, but ok, i got that done. Changed the dll, and replaced it on the PPC. So far, so good.
But still, when i tick 'today plus' in the today items, nothing shows up. Also not after reset, also not after making some changes in the setup application.
any tips?

The developement of this software was stoped a long time ago which is a pity since it is quite good. I find it rather slow though and have switched to rltoday. I think rltoday when it is developed will be what TodaPlus would have been when developed further.

In case you're wondering, I just tried to install this on my brand-new HTC Atlas / T-Mobile Wing running Windows Mobile 6 - fails to appear in the Today Plugins list and when ran it simply appears on it's own page. NOT RECOMMENDED for WM5 or WM6!

Does not work properly on my iPaq as well...
