Orionic is a sky viewer program for both day and night. By simply configuring your program according to your latitude and longitude, you can see the sky as it should appear at any given time (the present instant is the default) at the set geographic co-ordinates.
It allows you to locate constellations, to join them via lines, and to show where in the sky they are. It also allows you to click on a star to see its name, but it can't simultaneously display all the available names.
By using a little toolbar, which can be set to visible or not, it can zoom in on any part of the screen without any loss in quality and thus precisely explore any region.
A learning tool but also essential if you don't want to confuse yourself while trying to recognise the constellations on summer nights, this product is without fault and is extremely easy to use. With the aid of this little tool on your Pocket PC, you will no longer get lost contemplating the heavens.

It would be nice if the view could be dragged in real time (not wait for screen update), but I can imagine that would likely be performance and memory intensive.
It would also be nice if there was a way to figure out the name of a constellation on the map. There is the "go to" feature, but that's only useful if you know the constellation you want to see. Presently, the app allows you to click on stars to get their names, but not constellations. Perhaps that could be a toggleable option, or perhaps if you're viewing constellation boundaries, it would default to showing constellation names instead of star names.

Since the progam already knows the boundaries of all of the constellations, I was very puzzled that it does not name them when you touch within the boundary. That is, after all, how you use the program--you look up, think 'what's the constellation in that area', match it on the screen and click on it. Other than that, the software is extraordinarily spiffy. D. Swinton v1.2
